What Tomopaw is
Tomopaw connects pet owners with verified members who would like to spend time with a pet. Lending is free: owners never charge for visits and members never pay owners.
Tomopaw is not a pet-care, boarding or rental business and does not take possession of any animal. Owners decide who meets their pet and can say no to any request.
Membership
Requesting visits needs an active membership. Listing your own pet and hosting visits is free. Memberships are billed through the App Store or Google Play (in the app) or by Stripe (on the web), renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled any time in your store account settings or under Membership → Manage subscription. A free trial, when offered, turns into a paid membership at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
Membership fees pay for verification, safety tools, support and running the service. They are not payment for access to any animal.
Prices are shown in your local currency where we offer one (for example yen in Japan, pounds in the UK, US dollars in the US) before you pay. Web prices depend on the country in your profile; App Store and Google Play set prices for your store country.
Your responsibilities
Owners: only list a healthy pet that is yours, is vaccinated, has no history of biting or aggression, and isn't a restricted or dangerous breed where you live. Keep health details accurate.
Borrowers: during a visit you are responsible for the pet’s safety and wellbeing. Follow the house rules, never leave the pet alone, never hand the pet to anyone else, and return the pet on time.
Both: tell the truth on your profile, follow the Community Guidelines, and report any incident in the app within 48 hours.
No payments between members
Asking for or offering money, gifts in exchange for visits, or payment outside Tomopaw is not allowed and can lead to account removal.
Insurance and liability
Tomopaw does not provide insurance. Owners remain responsible for their pet and should hold pet liability insurance that covers other people looking after their pet. Borrowers should check their own personal liability cover.
During a visit the borrower is responsible for the pet’s care and must follow the house rules. Damage or injury caused by a borrower’s carelessness is the borrower’s responsibility.
Owners remain legally responsible for their pet as far as the law where you live says so. Tomopaw is not liable for the acts of members or animals, except where the law does not allow this to be excluded.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend or close accounts to protect people or animals, for example during an investigation of a bite, injury, lost pet or abuse report.
You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Where you live
Tomopaw is opening country by country, and these same terms apply wherever you use it. These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction of first instance over disputes about them, except where the law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live, where those laws give you rights that cannot be excluded by agreement. Country-specific notices that local law requires are part of these terms for members in that country.
We review these terms for each country we open in and will tell you in the app before any change takes effect.
